Influence of the Rotor Geometry on Efficiency and Torque Ripple of Switched Reluctance Motor Controlled by Optimized Torque Sharing Functions

Torque sharing function (TSF)-based switched reluctance motor (SRM) control is an effective approach to minimize torque ripple and maximize efficiency. This study investigated the influence of rotor geometry overcome inherent current tracking error used TSFs. Parameters TSF were optimized according several objectives. A finite element method simulation model was built verified evaluate objective functions. The optimization result a set functions that calculate optimal values start angle overlap sinusoidal for every operating point motor. Different objectives, including efficiency ripple, lead different calculating angles. research showed if most important objective, it possible determine suitable pole geometry. For other criteria, choice not so clear-cut requires consideration SRM modes.
